Project GoalIntroduce automated FQDN resolution for inbound call authorization, allowing operators to use an FQDN instead of manually configured IP addresses when defining the authorized source of incoming calls.
Why this project exists ?When CSP's customers use cloud-based platforms like Genesys Cloud or Twilio, these platforms assign unique FQDNs for each customer's call center. Cloud providers frequently rotate and update their underlying IP addresses to maintain their infrastructure, often without notifying. Under the current static IP system, when these IPs change, call authorization of incoming calls to PortaSwitch immediately fails because there is no matching record.
Who are the users / whom we bring value ?CSPs: Reduced operational effort and fewer service disruptions caused by changes to customers' cloud platform IP addresses.
CSP Support / Operations: Less manual IP maintenance and easier troubleshooting of inbound call authorization.
End Users: More reliable inbound calling, with calls continuing to work when the underlying cloud platform IP addresses change.
What are the benefits for CSP/ PortaSwitch owner?
  • Reduced operational costs: Less manual work to monitor, verify, and update customers' IP addresses.
  • Improved service reliability: Fewer inbound call failures caused by changes in third-party platforms' IP addresses.
  • Better scalability: Supporting customers with dynamically changing IP addresses becomes easier without increasing manual administration as the customer base grows.
  • More attractive service offering: PortaSwitch can support modern cloud-based communication platforms without requiring customers to maintain static IP allowlists.
