A common task is that CRM application or receptionist web-based console has to show notification about incoming calls in progress, etc. Using SIP presence does not quite fit there, since majority of CRMs are web based and it is quite challenging to deal with SIP stack from within HTML/Javascript. So we need a light-weight API that can be easily used from a web application.
